K.I.D.S, KEEPING INDIVIDUAL DREAMS SUPPORTED, INC. (K.I.D.S. INC) is a Non-Profit organization - 501(c)(3) - established to provide inner city youth the access to higher education opportunities through after school resources, mentoring, coaching and support. Utilizing the expansive resources found in the city of Los Angeles, (ie: sporting & cultural events, museums, public parks, etc.), K.I.D.S INC inspires inner city youth, ages 5-17, to explore and expand their interests.
In light of California’s growing budget crises, the L.A. Unified School District has thousands of kids losing general education necessities like Physical Education, Health & Wellness, Art, Music and field trips. K.I.D.S. Inc is here to replenish the young community with those activities once more. Supporting each individual dream will motivate and encourage children to become major positive leaders in our changing society.
The youth members of K.I.D.S. come from various schools within Los Angeles County, that have been hit hardest by overpopulation in the class rooms and staggering budget cuts. The youth members meet once a week for tutoring and field trips to some of L.A.’s finest attractions (The Getty Museum, Museum of Contemporary Art, Long Beach Aquarium, etc) and sporting events (LA Lakers, Clippers, Sparks, Dodgers, etc). As the youth group discuss their individual interests, the K.I.D.S. Inc Ambassadors (adult volunteers) help organize ways for the whole group to explore and discover these interests. This system of learning motivates and inspires the entire group – raising curiousity and discovering answers – all with the support of the community!
